 Dwayne Johnson, The Rock: All About His Career And Family

Dwayne Douglas Johnson, who goes by the ring name The Rock, was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California. His father’s family comes from a small village near Lovell, Maine; they are mostly of French-Canadian and English ancestry. His mother’s family is from Gaffney, South Carolina and Johnson has said that his parents are thick as thieves and are still crazy in love even after 35 years of marriage.

Early life

The Rock was born Dwayne Johnson in 1972 in Hayward, California. He is of Samoan and African-American descent. Growing up in a single parent household as the oldest male with five siblings made him tough. He played college football at the University of Miami where he was mainly on the practice squad. After graduating from UM in 1995, he joined the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders where he became a part-time player who also worked there as an office assistant. After being cut by Calgary in 1996, he returned to his hometown to start training for wrestling full time with his father (who had some connections).

Wrestling career

The six-foot-five star was born in Hayward, Athlete bio on May 2st 1972. Growing up he endured bullying as a child because of his height and soon became interested in football and wrestling. He played offensive tackle for the University of Miami and later joined the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League. At this point Dwayne wasn’t sure what to do with his life but soon took an interest in professional wrestling when he saw Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Federation on TV. With no experience he tried out at 24 years old and made it! It would be years before he would make it big, but eventually even starred in movies like The Scorpion King alongside fellow wrestler Jeff Goldblum.

Acting career

After completing a college football career at the University of Miami, Dwayne had an opportunity to play for the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League but turned it down to pursue a wrestling career. WWE owner Vince McMahon first scouted Dwayne while he was performing as Flex Kavana in the World Wrestling Federation and invited him to try out for the 1996 Survivor Series. He was assigned to wrestle under his real name (a rule at the time) and told that he would be making $125 per match; during his tenure with WWE, he changed his ring name to The Rock.

Personal life

In 2013, the actor got engaged to his girlfriend Lauren Hashian. They live in the same Beverly Hills mansion that he once shared with his ex-wife Dany Garcia and their two daughters – Simone Alexandra and upcuz.com. He has three dogs – Hobbs (a Newfoundland), Benny (a bulldog) and Edgar (a bulldog). One of them is named after his old friend from college, John ‘Edgar’ Bryant. He has four sisters – Taneisha, Jade and twins Jamika and Janae who are adopted. His parents had a blended family which consisted of six children.

The actor was also baptized as a member of the Catholic Church at age 13 by Father William Frey.

In 2018, it was revealed that The Rock and his current wife, Lauren Hashian were expecting their third child together. It will be the first for both of them as they’ve been married since 2007. The baby’s due date is in November this year.
