Face Yoga is a wonderful beauty and wellness tool that you can use at home to level up your skincare or just to make yourself feel calmer and happier. It gives you a little bit of daily joy to know that you are doing something good for yourself – and your face! – Lisa Barrett
Face Yoga is a solution, but not a quick one, it allows you to train and relax your facial muscles to smooth out certain areas of the skin that have developed unwanted fine lines or wrinkles due to excessive tension such as the forehead and the area around the mouth. Relaxing the chin area improves the shape of the face and promotes symmetry.
The face shape and symmetry can be improved by relaxing muscles on the chin, and contracting muscles that in the cheeks can shape them into nicer lines, further making facial features more prominent.

Lifestyle Affects Face Yoga Result
Enhancing facial appearance is a journey that requires dedication and patience, as the ultimate effect is influenced by factors including your age, lifestyle, and consistency in practicing face yoga. A healthy lifestyle and using appropriate skincare products can significantly improve the benefits of face yoga. Face yoga is suitable for everyone and is particularly popular among women in their 20s and 40s. Adopting face yoga into your daily routine can not only improve your physical appearance but also uplift your mood and promote overall mental health.
Recommend Lifestyle Changes
1. In addition to practicing face yoga, engage at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. Walking, exercising, dancing, practicing yoga, or running are all choices for sport.
2. Maintain a balanced diet by eating plenty of fruits and antioxidant-rich foods.
3. Address unhealthy habits such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and staying up late.
4. Stay hydrated by consuming an adequate amount of water every day and avoiding sugary drinks.
5. Protecting yourself during sexual activity to prevent the transmission of diseases and maintain reproductive health.
6. Minimize exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the peak UV hours of 10 am to 3 pm, as UV damage to the skin is permanent. Sun protection should be a top priority.
7. Practices like meditation and yoga can help to alleviate stress from work and daily life, which can also benefit your skin.
Does Face Yoga Work?
The NLH evaluated the relationship between a 20-week facial exercise program and facial appearance in middle-aged women with mild to moderate facial muscle atrophy in a study of women aged 40-65 years. Participants were instructed in 32 Face Yoga exercises, with a total of 27 participants, 16 completed the 20-week intervention and all follow-up visits, all 16 participants had facial muscle and line changes recorded, all results trended towards improvement over the 20 weeks, and the participants were satisfied with the results of all Face Yoga exercises. The results suggest that a 30-minute facial exercise program performed daily or every other day for 20+ weeks may modestly improve facial appearance in selected middle-aged women. Blind ratings on a validated light scale showed significant improvements in upper and lower cheek fullness.
Additionally, according to a study published in the JAMA Dermatology Journal by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Face Yoga exercises can effectively strengthen and tone facial muscles, resulting in improved facial contour and reduced sagging. Participants who practiced Face Yoga for 20 weeks showed significant increases in facial muscle thickness and tone.

Specific Guide to Face Yoga
1. Reduce Crow’s Feet
Put your hands on both sides of your forehead, then force your forehead back up, while gently pushing your fingers upwards to the temples to extend the sideburns muscles, repeat several times.
2. Lip Shaping
The index fingers of both hands lightly touch the lips above the folds on the side of the nose, and then press down hard, while trying to turn the lips outward to the maximum extent, keep the position for a few seconds, and relax.
3. Jawline
Put your hands on both sides of your chin and lift your chin upwards with all your might to feel the tightness of your neck muscles. Then close your lips tightly and push your jaw forward, hold the position for a few seconds, and relax.
Face Yoga can improve the elasticity and firmness of the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Stimulating the facial muscles, improves the firmness of the skin and reduces the formation of bags under the eyes and double chins. Face Yoga also improves blood circulation, speeds up the skin’s metabolism, helps eliminate toxins, and promotes skin cell regeneration, improving skin quality and tone for healthier, brighter skin.
