 UP TO WHAT AGE CAN RHINOPLASTY OF THE NOSE BE DONE?

WHAT IS RHINOPLASTY?

The nose is the part of the face that many people pay attention to when they show dissatisfaction with their appearance. Often, the features of its structure seem unaesthetic, cause complexes. Plastic surgery called rhinoplasty helps to cope with them. It is considered the most popular and demanded procedure when working on appearance. Rhinoplasty helps to remove the hump, to work on the width of the nose, and also to eliminate the physiological imperfections that cause breathing discomfort.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia. The effects of local anesthesia are avoided for the following reasons:

  • The patient may experience severe pain during surgery and stress;
  • While awake, the patient can interfere with the nose job in turkey with random movements;
  • The procedure is carried out within 2-3 hours, so general anesthesia shortens the waiting time for the final.

Before rhinoplasty, they conduct an introductory conversation with the surgeon and anesthesiologist, pass the recommended test package and undergo special examinations. Middle-aged and elderly patients are given special attention.

AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR RHINOPLASTY

The most appropriate age for rhinoplasty is considered to be the time interval between 18 and 40 years. In some cases, doctors recommend performing the operation earlier. By the age of 16, a person’s face is already formed and can undergo plastic changes. Usually, at this age, rhinoplasty is resorted to if it is required to eliminate pathology or helps to get rid of the consequences of injuries suffered. In childhood, the operation is not performed, since the bones of the skull are not fully formed.

After 40 years, rhinoplasty is not recommended.The skin at this age loses its former elasticity, and the metabolism proceeds much more slowly, the healing process is prolonged and the mucous tissue is not always ready for intervention. An operation carried out in the fifties and later can lead to complications. In this case, the rehabilitation period is extended for more than 4 months.
Older patients undergo rhinoplasty only in consultation with the doctor. It determines the presence of trauma, respiratory problems and complications from infectious diseases. In this case, rhinoplasty is allowed for patients not older than 55 years.

CONTRAINDICATIONS FOR RHINOPLASTY

A doctor preparing a patient for plastic surgery may not recommend it for a number of reasons. These include poor healthcare solutions, the presence of diseases incompatible with rhinoplasty, and the risks of deteriorating health.
An adult and an elderly patient may be refused a rhinoplasty procedure for the following reasons:

  • The presence of cardiovascular diseases, neoplasms and tumors, problems in the functioning of the liver and kidneys;
  • Risks of thromboembolism, heart attacks and strokes;
  • Diabetes mellitus, coagulation disorder;
  • Exacerbation of chronic pathologies and individual intolerance to drugs used during surgery.

The examination, which is carried out by a plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist, is aimed at finding out whether the body can cope with the planned intervention. If the procedure turns out to be serious stress for the patient and entails risks, the procedure will be refused. It should be understood that the operation is preceded by the treatment of all diseases that can cause complications after rhinoplasty.
